Hi! I’m Shaldar Nurse.

I remember it like yesterday: standing under the hot stage lights, five years old, holding a cardboard crown that kept slipping over my eyes. I was one of the Three Wise Men. I don’t remember the church audience or the lines I was supposed to say. But I do remember the feeling, and I knew this was the place I was supposed to be.

Years later, I found myself in Trinidad and Tobago, thirteen and adjusting to a new home and culture. But acting followed me there, too! School plays, community shows, classes... Anywhere I could step into character, I did. Storytelling was the thread that tied all the different versions of myself together.

When I came back to NYC at age 21, I was aiming to build a life around that feeling I first had as a kid under those lights. I trained at The Barrow Group, with Tom G. Waites, and later at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts, where I earned my Associate Degree in Theatre. Studying the Lee Strasberg Method with David Gideon pushed me to go deeper into honesty, vulnerability, and truth.

Since then, I’ve appeared in Off- and Off-Off-Broadway productions, short films, and commercial work, always looking for great stories. Acting is the one place where everything clicks for me: where telling stories isn’t just a skill, but something that makes me feel more alive than ever.
